Award-winning blues rock band THE FLUFFY JACKETS are back with ‘Something from Nothing‘ - a new 9-track album (CD) which also includes a 2 hours documentary film (DVD) featuring Manny Charlton (Nazareth) and as special guest Neil Murray (Whitesnake, Black Sabbath).
The Fluffy Jackets' sophomore album consist of nine new songs, including the single “Everything Must Change” and a tribute to Glen Campbell via a cover of his song “Better Place” (featuring a wonderful duet with Alison Cooper). This time the band has hired legendary producer Manny Charlton (Nazareth) to mastermind arrangements.
The accompanying two-hour film contains never-seen-before interviews with the original band, live performances, music videos plus retrospective interviews with both Neil Murray (Whitesnake, Black Sabbath, Gary Moore) and Manny Charlton (Nazareth). Additional bonus material includes rehearsal footage, up-close inspection of guitars and amplifiers used to record the album, including a Gibson Flying V guitar previously used to record the Nazareth albums “Play ’N’ the Game” (1976) and “Expect No Mercy” (1977). The cds arrived quite quickly and came in very good packaging and came undamaged.
Enjoyed the CD,some good tunes,this CD is recommended.
Great Album, met my expectations and more!
Singer and guitarist Helge Rognstad returns with another great Fluffy Jackets release, once again featuring additional guitar (and Dobro) from Manny Charlton of Nazareth. If you don't read the liner notes before playing Something from Nothing you might be surprised that the first voice you hear on the record is female, as Rognstad duets with Alison Cooper on opening track "Better Place," a hopeful cut that makes for a very nice homage to the song's writer, the late Glen Campbell. Other highlights include a cover of Blind Willie Johnson's "John the Revelator," also famously covered by Johnny Cash, Rognstad original "Everything Must Change" and the choogling Rognstad/Charlton co-write "Welcome to the Shoot-them-up." The blues rocking "Tongues Wag" is a fun singalong that recalls the era when Nazareth and Foghat were ripping up the scene, and certainly tongues will be wagging in praise for all of Something from Nothing. A bonus two-hour documentary film on DVD is included with the CD.
Nine new tracks, a great feel and some moments of magic. Then theres the bonus DVD that adds music videos, band interviews, guest interviews, rehearsals and a look at Helges and Mannys guitars. Whats not to love?
Got the new album from The Fluffy Jackets a week ago. Have seen the DVD 2 times and played the CD about 6 times now and are playing as I write this message. This album is supurb in many ways. Helge Rognstad has done a great job again and with guest artists like Manny Charlton on guitar, dobro and production, Neil Murray on bass, Alison Cooper duet vocal on Better place, this CD/DVD must be one of the best blues/rock albums in 2019.. It's hard to find a favorite track, because they are all great, but the single Everything must change is a notch better for me, without explaining why. Soo if you need a damn good album, buy this one today....You will not regret your purchase. A big thank to the boys in The Fluffy Jackets that does this job of making good music for us who love music !!!
